Adding System Memory (desktop computer)
Improve
the performance of your computer without voiding the
original warranty. Everex makes it easy and affordable
to upgrade and install your computer memory with Everex
approved memory modules. Instructions
applicable to models
gPC and gPC2.
Tools
Needed: (1) Phillips screwdriver
Time Required: 15 minutes
STEP
1
Turn
off your Everex computer, unplug from its power
source and place it on a clean, stable surface.
CAUTION:
USE OF UNAUTHORIZED MEMORY MODULES MAY CAUSE INCOMPATIBILITY
ISSUES WITH YOUR EVEREX PC AND CAN RESULT IN PERMANENT
DAMAGE TO THE MEMORY MODULE AND/OR COMPUTER. THE
EVEREX STANDARD WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER DAMAGE CAUSED
BY INSTALLATION OF UNAUTHORIZED PARTS.

STEP
2
Situate
the computer so there is clear access to the back
and side panels of the chassis. |

STEP
3
With
a Phillips screwdriver, remove the top,
right screw from the back of the chassis.
|

4
Remove
the bottom, right
screw from the back of the chassis. Place
the screws in a safe location for later use.

STEP
5
Grasp
the side door handle and pull backwards 1/2 inch.
CAUTION:
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PRY OPEN THE COMPARTMENT DOOR
WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. |

Wiggle
the compartment door slightly to release it from
the sliding brackets. |

7
Remove
the door and place in a safe location for later
use. |

8
With
the door removed, the internal components of the
computer should now be visible.
CAUTION:
DO NOT TOUCH THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS OF YOUR COMPUTER
WITHOUT PROPER GROUNDING. ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE
CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE. Learn more about

9
Find
the open memory slot on the mainboard.

STEP
10
Locate the plastic retaining clips on both sides
of the memory. Push outward to open using your fingers
(do not use tools).

Align
the new memory module perpendicular to the open
slot.
Note: A small cutout on the memory module edge allows
insertion in only a single orientation. Be sure
to align the cutout with the open socket.

Check
to ensure both sides of the memory module are aligned
with the memory slot.

Using
slight pressure, push down on the memory module
until it snaps into place. |

Check
the top and bottom clips to ensure they have locked
the memory module properly into place. |

15
Place
the compartment door at a 90 degree angle to the
chassis. Align the bottom support
tabs to the chassis.

Swing
the compartment door upwards. Ensure the top support
tabs also align with the chassis.

Using
slight pressure, push the back of the compartment
door foward. |

Hand
tighten the compartment door screws. |

Installation
of the memory is now complete. Your Everex
computer is designed to automatically detect and
optimize the additional memory.
If your computer makes a series of "beeping"
sounds after being turned on, the memory module(s)
may not be situated properly. Reopen the compartment
door and ensure the modules are installed correctly.
