Time Required: 15 minutes

STEP 1
Turn off your Everex notebook, unplug from its power source and place it upside-down on a clean, stable surface.

CAUTION: USE OF UNAUTHORIZED MEMORY MODULES MAY CAUSE INCOMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH YOUR EVEREX NOTEBOOK AND CAN RESULT IN PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE MEMORY MODULE AND/OR COMPUTER. THE EVEREX STANDARD WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER DAMAGE CAUSED BY INSTALLATION OF UNAUTHORIZED PARTS.

If you need assistance or have questions regarding installation, contact Everex Technical Support at 866-850-8835.

STEP 2
Remove the battery by first releasing the latch #1.

STEP 3
While holding latch #2 in the unlocked position, remove the battery by gently pulling it away from the notebook chassis.

STEP 4
With a Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the 7 screws on the compartment door (2 Long, 1 Medium-Length, 4 short). Place the screws in a safe location for later use.

STEP 5
Depending on the specific model, the centrally located screw may be hidden under the support label. Slowly peel the label to expose the screw and remove.

Hint - The screw placed in the center location may loosen but not fully disengage from its socket.

STEP 6
Place the tip of a 3/32 Slotted screwdriver into the recessed section of the compartment door.

Hint - To protect the finish of your notebook, a small piece of masking tape may be placed between the screwdriver and chassis.

STEP 7
Twist the screwdriver 90 degrees.

CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PRY OPEN THE COMPARTMENT DOOR WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE.

STEP 8
With the screwdriver in place, grab the edge of the compartment door with your fingertips.

STEP 9
While holding the compartment door slightly open with one hand, remove the screwdriver. Use both hands to slowly pull the inside edge away from the chassis.

STEP 10
Once the door is tilted to a 45 degree angle, stop.  Do not pull the compartment door completely backwards.

Hint: Use caution while removing the compartment door to prevent breakage of the supporting tabs.

STEP 11
Remove the door by lifting it outwards at a 45 degree angle.

CAUTION: Do not touch the internal components of your computer without proper grounding. Electrostatic discharge can cause permanent damage to your computer.

Learn more about proper grounding.

STEP 12
With the compartment door removed, the memory module sockets (1 open) will be visible.

STEP 13
Locate the metal retaining clips on both sides of the memory. Push outward using your fingers (do not use tools).

STEP 14
The factory installed memory module will automatically swing upward when properly released.

STEP 15
Remove the original memory module by pulling out at a 45 degree angle.

STEP 16
Align the memory module at a 45 degree angle toward the bottom memory slot.

Note: A small cutout on the memory module edge allows insertion in only a single orientation. Be sure to align the cutout with the open socket.

STEP 17
Insert the memory module into the open slot.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE. If the module does not insert easily, remove, check for blockage and proper orientation before attempting again.

STEP 18
Using slight pressure, push down on the memory module until it snaps into place.

STEP 19
Using the tips of your finger, push down the left corner of the memory module to ensure a proper fit.

STEP 20
Push down the right corner of the memory module.

STEP 21
The factory installed memory module should now be located in the bottom memory slot.

STEP 22
Align your newly purchased memory at a 45 degree angle toward the top (open) memory slot.

Note: A small cutout on the memory module edge allows insertion in only a single orientation. Be sure to align the cutout with the open socket.

STEP 23
Insert the new memory module into the open slot.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE. If the module does not insert easily, remove, check for blockage and proper orientation before attempting again.

STEP 24
Again, using slight pressure, push down on the new memory module until it snaps into place.

STEP 25
Using the tips of your finger, push down the left corner of the new module to ensure a proper connection.

STEP 26
Push down the right corner of the new module.

STEP 27
Both (2) memory modules should now be in place.

STEP 28
Place the compartment door at a 45 degree angle.

STEP 29
Using the support tabs as a guide, insert the left edge of the door into the laptop chassis.

STEP 30
Gently push the compartment door into place. The compartment door retaining clips will snap into place.

STEP 31
Insert the 2 longest screws into the top corner sockets. The middle-length screw (if completely removed) should be returned to the center socket. Small screws should be used in all other locations.

CAUTION: Placement of the long screws into the wrong location will damage the motherboard of your notebook.

STEP 32
Hand tighten all screws.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE WHILE TIGHTENING SCREWS.

STEP 33
Replace the battery, then lock latch #1.

STEP 34
Installation of the memory is now complete.  Your Everex computer is designed to automatically detect and optimize the additional memory.

If your notebook makes a series of "beeping" sounds after being turned on, the memory module(s) may not be situated properly.  Reopen the compartment door and ensure the modules are installed correctly.
